The meaning of RUO
Research Use Only (RUO) is a regulatory designation that identifies a product as intended solely for laboratory research. RUO products are not manufactured, tested, or labeled for diagnostic, therapeutic, or any in-vivo application.
Every SFVLAB compound carries this designation. It is not fine print — it is the defining condition of the product.
What RUO means for buyers
Purchasing an RUO compound means accepting that it will be used only in a research context: analytical work, in-vitro experiments, method development, and similar laboratory applications.
RUO products must never be used in humans or animals, and nothing in this learning center — or anywhere on this site — should be interpreted as guidance for such use.
Why the designation protects research quality
The RUO framework keeps research materials clearly separated from consumer products. It allows laboratories to source high-purity compounds with full analytical documentation while maintaining an unambiguous boundary around their intended use.
