Terms you'll see on every label
Sequence — the ordered list of amino acids that defines the peptide. Two peptides with the same amino acids in a different order are different compounds.
Molecular weight — the mass of one molecule of the compound, used in concentration calculations.
Net peptide content — the fraction of the vial's material that is actually the target peptide, after accounting for counter-ions and residual moisture.
Lot / batch number — the identifier tying a vial to a specific production run and its test records.
Analytical terms
HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) — the standard method for measuring peptide purity by separating compounds as they pass through a column.
MS (Mass Spectrometry) — a technique that confirms a compound's identity by measuring its molecular mass.
Purity (%) — the proportion of the sample that is the target peptide, typically reported from HPLC analysis.
Handling terms
Lyophilized — freeze-dried into a stable powder for storage and shipping.
Reconstitution — dissolving a lyophilized compound in an appropriate laboratory solvent for analytical work.
Aliquot — a measured portion of a solution, divided to avoid repeated freeze-thaw stress on a stock.
